Manuscripts and early printed books inspire my products.

Although each manuscript is a unique rendering, its imagery doesn’t usually represent a novel concept. Manuscripts were often copied from other manuscripts.

I “copy” them, too, from their digital surrogates, onto cloth and paper. The digital images used on Pen to Press products range mostly from 1200 to 1650 CE (Common Era).

My current image repertoire includes British, European, Hebrew, Armenian, Persian, and Indian book art. I produce everything
in small runs, or as custom orders. If you have an image that you’d like to use, I’m happy to design you something with it, as long as it’s copyright compliant (and 600+ dpi).

Your questions and suggestions are always welcome.
Some of my best products are from my customers’ ideas!

Most of my images are from institutions who freely share their collections through Creative Commons. I rely heavily on the Walters Art Museum and the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the University of Pennsylvania Kislak Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books. I also purchase images from the British Library and other collections.
